“ Pour les enfants qui s’ébattent au clair de lune, mon conte est une narration fantastique. Pour les pileuses de coton pendant les longues nuits de la saison froide, mon récit est une délectation, un passe temps fait à plaisr. Pour les mentons velus et les talons rugueux, c’est une véritable révélation. Je suis donc à la fois futile, utile et instructeur”“Au pays de Kaïdara de Amadou Hampaté Ba Vous le devinez déjà, nous allons conter sur ce blog.

SANDGAL

SANDGAL

ONCE UPON A TIME a dark cloud shadowed the heads of sand kids playing on a beach city. Then, the whole weight of a laughing man dumpened them deeply in the foamy waters by the seashore.

Sandgal, a little sand girl, the Pearl of beauty, sneaked somehow in a hollow hearted hole in the middle of the invader’s shoe and sticked inside it. Then, began for Sandgal the most fearful trip ever made by anyone from the Shore Sand City.

Shore Sand City was a tiny city right on the shore, washed by sea waters every so often. People roll all on the time because they only knew the rolling thing and also because of a rounded shape, they could only roll. So everyone in Shore Sand City, from old to young moved their way around by rolling. And the more one has rolled, the more weared out, one was. The more tiny and the less quick in rolling one was.

Getting away from the rolling business would sure keep one from becoming slim because of the low and high tides conflicts. Every sand kid knows about the tale of their trial before the sea court.

Inside her place in the shoe hole, Sandgal remembered the “ GEWAN - TEKON KINGDOM” story, told by her grand mother a few years ago: “
Here it is!
"In the middle of the sea was a kingdom were once lived two main royal families of fish. The Giwan and the Tekon. The Gewan were the fiercy ones who use to go out hunting to bring back food to all. The Tekon, peaceful ones stayed in the kingdom to guard it from outsiders and ruled the city while the Gewan were out.

For a long time Peace sat upon the Gewon-Tekon kingdom untill the Gewan started boasting about being more important than the Tekon. Called before the King of the sea, they were asked to explain what their quarel was about.

The Gewan leader said : “ Without us; no one would eat in our kingdom but the Tekon would not want to recognize it. On the contrary, they refuse their daugters to be married to our boys, accusing them of smelling preys.”

Asked to reply to this charge the leader of the Tekon said :” My lord, our beautiful girls, wearing their green grass dress decorated with shining shells and glittering white precious pearls, smelling the best ever known perfume scents from any sea depths, were indeed offended so many times by Gewan boys who never take care of themselves before coming to visit them.”

Before the king, the Gewan and the Tekon started argueing again till they ended up having a fight. After a battle that lasted seven sea years never did the Gewan and the Tekon talk to each other again.

Outraged, their King retired into the Golden Magic Rock located in the deepest part of ocean waters where all seas meet. That place is forbiden to the Gewan and to the Token alike. The former and the latter go there nevertheless to beg their king’s pardon.

Whenever the Gewan visit, the king gets angry because they started the argument and his anger inflates the sea : It’s the high tide.
Whenever the Tekon visit, the king’s temper goes down and the king swallows extra water from high tide : It’s the low tide.

But, there was a lesson learned in both communities : “ Never would a boy go to visit his girl friend without smelling the best perfume he could find wherever it is in their sea which in fact brings a better understanding among families...”
